From the centre of Ponte Di Legno (1260m) in front of the tourist office on Corso Milano 41, take via Bulferi uphill, which becomes via Dalegno. Follow this road (which has a pavement, local information and a few strategic benches to rest on), up to the village of Villa Dalegno (1376m – 40 mins approx.). On the way you will have great views of the peaks of Pornina, Salimmo and Castellaccio, and the Ponte di Legno basin.

Follow the white and blue signs (and the cycling signs “Stambec”) to the very top of the village, in the direction of the church and hotel Eden. Past the church, take the right turn via Castello until you reach the Eden hotel. After the hotel, take the path to the right of the little religious statue marked “Precasaglio” and no.64.

Turn right again at the next junction and the path begins to climb uphill. At the next junction DO NOT follow the CAI 64 directions which climb to the left, but continue instead on the flat path which goes through the woods. Ten minutes later the path curves towards Villa Dalegno – take the small mule track closed to traffic which is marked “Precasaglio”.

The path continues downhill above Ponte di Legno, then enters Pezzo valley and continues above the village of Zoanno. The path widens and descends quite steeply downhill towards Precasaglio with views of the church of saints Fabiano & Sebastiano.

After almost 2 hours altogether, you enter via S.Rocco. Turn left at the end of this street and pass Hotel Frigidolfo. Upon reaching a little religious statue on your left, take the grassy track off the road down to the right directly opposite it.  The track is not marked (but there are red painted markings just before it).

This brings you down to Ristorante Bar “Il Mulino” and over a little bridge. Turn right onto the main highway for a couple of hundred metres then come off to the left just before the bridge over the Frigidolfo river.

Take the track (unmarked) which follows the riverbed towards Ponte di Legno.
