A project for you

Pontedilegno-Tonale ski area has joined a project designed to make it easier for monoski and dualski users to access the lifts.

The lift involved in this project is the Pontedilegno-Tonale cable car, where a track has been installed using an innovative plastic material that allows skiers with disabilities to glide along using their special aids and board the lift with ease. The innovative Neveplast material has been installed at all key access points to the cable car: boarding and alighting points, at the exit of the midway station on both sides, and inside one in ten cabins.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Sentieri Accessibili Srl, an innovative social enterprise dedicated to promoting and developing more accessible tourism in the Camonica Valley, whilst also encouraging, where possible, the employment of disadvantaged individuals.

Also with a view to facilitating access to the ski slopes for people with disabilities, two ‘Chair Stations’ have been installed. These act as a gateway between the snow and the pavement, allowing access by wheelchair or monoski, and enabling users to transfer easily and independently from one aid to another.

Ski lessons? Our ski schools are waiting for you

Would you like to improve your technique or put yourself to the test and learn to ski? Our ski schools are qualified to teach people with psychomotor disabilities. Our instructors are specially trained to teach skiing to people with physical, relational, mental and intellectual disabilities (including, but not limited to: learning difficulties, autism, Down’s syndrome and Angelman syndrome).

Passo Tonale offers a vast training area with gentle slopes that are ideal for teaching beginners and people with psychomotor difficulties. The playful nature of skiing makes it a tool for learning and personal growth. From a social perspective, it is a sport that encourages engagement, and the lessons are highly therapeutic, as they enhance the learner’s cognitive development and socialisation.

Our instructors are highly attuned to the needs of these types of skiers and bring a great deal of expertise and professionalism to their work: this commitment began many years ago and has since been passed on to the younger instructors; today, they have all achieved an excellent level of specialisation.
